1. The natural beauty of France
Last week I spoke of summer drawing to a close, today my focus is on nature. I’m celebrating the astonishing beauty of nature.
I’m constantly in awe of the natural beauty of France…and this week I’d like to zoom in… to have a close look at nature… look at the details we often don’t really see. Are you coming with me?
But before we go here’s a tip so that you can find these yourself.
Background information:
Many of these images come from the section called ‘Notes’ on substack. If that sentence leaves you screwing up your nose and perhaps shaking your head and feeling a bit lost that’s ok. Probably you read le Bulletin newsletter from your email inbox ( most do, so you’re in good company). But if you’d like to explore further you can go to the Substack App (& download it), then choose ‘Notes’ to find… well all sorts of posts and chats. Alternatively, you can go to the le Bulletin site and find Notes there and you’ll see all the things I’ve been posting and chatting about.
What is ‘Notes’? you may wonder, well it’s where writers and readers are posting and chatting, and you’re welcome there too… see you there soon.
Now here are some lovely images and descriptions of nature for you to enjoy.
Anne Thomas is a Contributor to MyFrenchLife Magazine and I’m looking forward to more of her articles being about nature. Anne lives in Grenoble at the foot of the French Alps, and here you’ll find the articles we’ve already published.
And now some mindful words about nature…
…And what about these lovely words? The most awesome greeting I received during this week.
“May your week be heavenly like wild carrot in a sinking sun”. Oh! And look at this Beautiful image by Susie Mawhinney of ‘A hill and I’ to be found on #FranceStack.
and from Emily Scott of Shore to Shore, also to be found in #FranceStack library
And a book… a find… all about nature in France. A note by French Countryside Companion.
And finally from Whitney Barkman of A Quiet Moment… these superb images and there are many more on her site where at the moment she’s speaking about the coming summer’s end.
Thank you to all of the writers and photographers I featured here. Your observational skills and photographic talent are impressive. Thank you for drawing us into the superb detail that is nature… nature in your life.

Judy, this was a wonderful and calming end to a hectic few days, a huge, warm (actually make that hot) thank you for including me in your gorgeous nature round up, I feel incredibly honoured and I love that you chose that photo - wild carrot always heralds the end of summer to me but it manages to do it so beautifully the melancholy I feel seems just that bit less profound.
