I would just like to emphasis that my young nephew Callum Gillick co- wrote this article with me. Without his detailed knowledge of the Hundred Years’ War, I would have been less clear about why it happened. It was fun working with my nephew. He is now starting to enjoy a well-deserved summer break after completing his History coursework and his final public examinations last Thursday. Thank you Callum.
Thank you so much fabulous MyFrenchLife contributors: Caroline McCormick-Clarke, Keith Christiansen and Nick Garnett for your as always interesting articles that I’ve published this week in the magazine and le Bulletin newsletters.
The Légion Etrangère article was fascinating -- I live near the Larzac plateau, where they have a base. I always hear about them, but didn't really know much about the conditions for joining, etc.

It’s fascinating isn’t it Betty. That story really got under my skin.
