The Olympics in Paris 2024: Positive or negative.
The Seine River is among Paris’s most beloved natural landmarks, its beauty called out in songs throughout the ages and captured in a number of celebrated Impressionist paintings. Iconic as it is, the river is not really known as the ideal spot for swimming. But, as the City of Light prepares for next year’s Summer Olympics, The New York Times reports that its workers have made big strides toward keeping a promise included in Paris’s successful bid to host:
getting the water quality of the Seine clean enough for Olympians to swim in it. Snaking 483 miles [including] through the French capital, it’s been no small job, stated Charlotte Collins in the Architectural Digest.
The Seine, the capital's iconic river, will be at the heart of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Games will be held on and around the river. This unique ceremony will be held outside a stadium for the first time and the public will be able to greet the athletes as they parade in floating boats on the Seine. The route ends at the Trocadéro for a grand finale. The spectacle will undoubtedly be unforgettable.
